The CROMA group is highly active in consultancy and technical support services for companies and research groups, primarily in the field of analytical chemistry, with a strong focus on chromatography. One of our most active current lines of work is air quality assessment, although we also conduct studies in analytical method development and environmental radioactivity.
In the field of air quality, several projects have been ongoing for more than five years in collaboration with local companies. In particular, we are working to assess the impact of industrial activity on air quality in nearby towns. For instance, in collaboration with AEQT, we are studying the southern industrial area, and with Repsol, the northern industrial area. These studies are part of the Air Quality Observatory of the Camp de Tarragona.
In addition, together with Repsol and the Government of Catalonia, we are monitoring the presence of carcinogenic compounds in towns throughout the Camp de Tarragona region.
We also collaborate with the Tarragona Port Authority to assess air quality within port facilities and evaluate their impact on the city of Tarragona.
For several years, we have been working with the company Silvalac to assess the impact of organic solvents used in their industrial processes on nearby populations.
In partnership with Covestro, we are monitoring the presence of chlorine and hydrochloric acid in the atmosphere in preparation for the launch of a new chlorine production plant, scheduled to begin operations in 2023.
We also carry out air quality studies in collaboration with institutions such as the Reus City Council and the Barcelona Provincial Council.
Services related to radiochemical analysis are provided at the URAIS Laboratory, located at the facilities of the Consorci d'Aigües de Tarragona in the town of l'Ampolla.
